Ukraine’s Engine for Heavy Class Attack Helicopter

The engine of the Heavy Class Attack Helicopter developed with prime contracting of TUSAS will be Ukraine’s production. Prof. Dr. Kotil who is General Manager of TUSAS has announced this development.

Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil, General Manager Turkish Aerospace Industries Incorporation (TUSAS) has appeared as a guest of Fatih Altayli on the Haberturk tv channel. About the project which was started by the Presidency of Defence Industries, he said that Ukraine’s production engine would energize Heavy Class Attack Helicopter developed by TUSAS.

It is planned that the “Heavy Class Attack Helicopter” which is the first helicopter of Turkey developed with national resources will perform its first flight in 2023. The Helicopter is in the same class as Russian Federation’s Mi-28 and U.S.A.’s AH-64 Apache.

Ağır Sınıf Taarruz HelikopteriWith the technological knowledge and the operational experience obtained from T-129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter, The Project of Heavy Class Attack Helicopter to be developed entirely with national and local resources has been started on February 22, 2019, according to the agreement that was signed between Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and Turkish Aerospace Industries Incorporation (TUSAS).

The platform to be developed in the scope of the project which was started by of Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) with prime contracting of Turkish Aerospace Industries Incorporation (TUSAS) will use the subsystems of the Project of GOKBEY General Purpose Helicopter. Heavy Class Attack Helicopter will have high performance with its high utility load, modern avionics systems, and reduced logistics cost.
