Turkiye Covers Its Skies With National Air Defence Systems

The HISAR-O+ Medium Altitude Air Defence Missile System has been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces with all its elements. HISAR-A+ was also recently put into use.

The Medium Altitude Air Defence Missile System HISAR-O+, whose firing tests were completed and ready for use quite recently, was delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces. The HISAR-A+ Low Altitude Air Defence Missile System was also put into use in the past months.

With the delivery of HISAR-O+, Turkiye is now able to provide air defense in the Very Low Altitude, Low Altitude and Medium Altitude layers by its own means.

For High Altitude, the SIPER Project is successfully being carried out by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). The system is planned to be ready for use next year.

HISAR-O+ Air Defence Missile System

As a  Presidency Defense Industry Presidency Project, HISAR-O+ was developed locally and nationally in cooperation with Aselsan-Roketsan. The warhead was developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE. The system, which has 360-degree efficiency, can engage and fire at least 9 targets at the same time. The prevention range of the HISAR O+ System reaches 25 km.

Capable of operating in all weather conditions, HISAR is effective against warplanes, helicopters, air-to-ground missiles, cruise missiles and armed/unarmed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV/AUAVs). Designed in accordance with the current needs and threats of Turkiye, which has strategic and critical facilities, HISAR will be a serious power multiplier in the country’s air defense.

Developed with domestic and national resources, the HISAR-O+ System will perform point and regional air defense missions with its distributed and flexible architectural capability. The HISAR O+ System has an organizational infrastructure in battery and battalion structures. It consists of Fire Control Center, Missile Launch System, Medium Altitude Air Defense Radar, Electro Optical System and Infrared Seeker Missile elements.

The HISAR O+ Air Defence Missile System was able to destroy the high-altitude high-speed target in its final acceptance shot before entering the inventory.

HISAR A+ was the first air defence system to have been delivered as part of the HISAR air defence missile family. HISAR-O+ was also recently commissioned. The long-range air defense system, which is under test firing, is expected to be ready for use in 2023.
