Selçuk Bayraktar makes a statement about MIUS

Baykar Defence Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Selçuk Bayraktar made important statements about the National Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (MIUS) System, which is under development by Baykar Defence.

In his statement, Bayraktar said, “Fifth-generation warplanes are being developed all around the world, they are manned warplanes and it is said that after the fifth generation, unmanned warplanes will begin their duty. Our concept studies too had started long ago, but after we did AKINCI, we started to work on our unmanned warplane, which will be the future combat aircraft, and we aim to fly the prototype before 2023. ”

The works on Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle System has started according to Selçuk Bayraktar’s statement. It is planned to have an operational altitude of 40,000 feet, 4-5 hours of flight time, approximately 3.5 tons of take-off weight, 1-ton ammunition capacity, turbofan propulsion system, 0.8 Mach cruise speed, and SATCOM Data Network, in other words, satellite communication capability. MIUS will be used in strategic attacks, close air support, suppression/destruction of enemy air defences (SEAD/DEAD), and missile attack missions with various payloads.
