Turkish defence and aerospace industry’s exports for 2023 have been announced. Turkey’s exports in the defence and aerospace industry were recorded as $5.5 billion in 2023.
Turkey’s export performance in the defence and aerospace industry continues at an increasing pace. The sector, which exported 4.3 billion dollars in 2022, exported 5.5 billion dollars with an increase of 27.1% this year.
The sector’s monthly export record was also renewed with 719.1 million dollars of exports in December 2023. With an export target of $ 6 billion for 2023, the Turkish defence and aerospace industry missed its target by a small margin.
Having signed record deals in 2023, the sector is expected to show a much better export performance in 2024. In particular, the AKINCI Armed UAV contract signed by BAYKAR with Saudi Arabia in 2023 has earned the title of ‘the largest export contract signed by the Turkish defence and aerospace industry in a single item’ with a value of more than USD 3 billion.
The sector’s share in Turkey’s overall exports was announced as 2.5%.
According to the information obtained by SavunmaSanayiST.com, the Turkish defence and aerospace industry earned the most export revenues from unmanned aerial vehicles and ammunition in 2023.
