The Turkish Exporters Assembly shared data on exports carried out by the Turkish Defence and Aerospace Industries sector in September 2020. The increase in exports to Azerbaijan, drew attention.
According to the information obtained; During the first 9 months of 2020, the Turkish Defence and Aerospace Industries sector exported a total of 1 billion 521 million 396 thousand USD. Defence exports, which have declined all over the world under the influence of Covid-19, have also had an impact in Turkey. However, September 2020 hosted promising export figures for the Turkish Defence and Aerospace Industries sector. Total exports carried out by the sector during September 2020 were USD 281 million 582 thousand, an increase of 80% compared to the same period the previous year.
A significant portion of the exports made in September were directed towards Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan supplied 77,167.47 million U.S. dollars worth of defense products from Turkey, an increase of 18273.83% from the previous month. Azerbaijan, the country that bought the most defense products from Turkey in September, is estimated to have supplied Bayraktar TB2 Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and MAM-L Smart Micro Munition.
