Bayraktar TB3 started its first international journey

BAYKAR continues its business development activities for the Bayraktar TB2 Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UCAV). Bayraktar TB3’s first overseas stop was the UAE.

According to a special report by SavunmaSanayiST.com, the first overseas stop of Bayraktar TB3 UCAV, whose development and testing activities are being carried out by BAYKAR, was the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Bayraktar TB3 UCAV was also exhibited at the UMEX 2024 International Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.

The UAE had previously signed a contract to procure Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and AKINCI TUAV from BAYKAR. The export door opened by BAYKAR has led to serious positive reflections on many defence industry companies, particularly ASELSAN and Roketsan. ASELSAN and Roketsan signed contracts for the export of various UAV payloads to the UAE.

It is also known that the UAE has shown great interest in the Bayraktar TB3 UCAV, which is capable of landing/take-off on land or sea platforms with short runways. Bayraktar TB3, which successfully completed its 15th test flight, left 112 hours behind in the skies. The aircraft is expected to start both ammunition and short runway landing/take-off tests this year.

FIRST FLIGHT FROM TCG ANADOLU IN 2024

With its foldable wing structure, Bayraktar TB3 UAV will be the world’s first armed UAV capable of taking off and landing from short-runway ships like TCG Anadolu.

Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board and Technology Leader of BAYKAR, announced plans to begin testing Bayraktar TB3 on the TCG Anadolu ship in 2024. The capabilities of Bayraktar TB3 will be a significant innovation in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles of this class.

The national UAV will also have beyond-line-of-sight communication capability, allowing it to be controlled from very long distances. Thus, it will have a multiplier effect on Turkey’s deterrent power by executing reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence, and attack missions against overseas targets.
