F-16 Block 30 Structural Modernization continues

Turkish Aerospace continues its “F-16 Block 30 Structural Modernization” activities for the Turkish Air Force Command under the leadership of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB).

In relation to the subject, The statement made by President of the T.C. Presidential Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR is as follows “Structural improvements of F-16 Block 30 aircraft continue. In the project, engineering studies are carried out for the renovation and revision of 1200-1500 pieces of structural parts per aircraft, and repair and replacement and hull reinforcement applications are carried out as necessary. With the project carried out by Turkish Aerospace, we aim to increase the structural life of our F-16 aircraft, the main striking element of our air force, from 8000 hours to 12000 hours.”

In this context, a contract was signed in 2015 for the modernization activities of F-16 Block 30 fighter jets, which are in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force and have reached 7,000 flight hours as of 2016, with the project carried out under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB). With the project, which started in 2016, the F-16 Block 30 fighter aircraft’s flight life will be increased by 4,000 hours, from 8,000 hours to 12,000 hours.

The first aircraft was delivered to the 132nd Weapons and Tactics Fleet Command in July 2020. The project is planned to be completed in 2023.
