Turkey Kicks Off Prototype Assembly of First National Aircraft

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has kicked of the production activities of HÜRJET Advanced Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft developed with national capabilities.

In order to meet the global and national need for jet training and light attack aircraft, parts production and assembly activities for prototype aircraft of the Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft (HÜRJET) was started with the HÜRJET Project launched in 2017 with TUSAŞ’s own resources.

According to the information obtained by SavunmaSanayiST.com; TUSAŞ is currently continuing its component level assembly activities within the scope of HÜRJET Project.

TUSAŞ, which plans to start the Final Assembly Line by mid-2022, anticipates to rollout HÜRJET from the hangar at the end of the year. HÜRJET is scheduled to make its first flight on March 18, 2023, following ground tests.

Within the scope of HÜRJET project, it is planned to produce one static and one fatigue test aircraft for use in test activities with two prototype flyable aircraft. TUSAŞ has ‘effectively’ started the production activities of the test aircraft mentioned.

HÜRJET

The HÜRJET configurations planned to be developed within the scope of the project are as follows: Combat Readiness Training, Light Assault (Close Air Support), Counter-Force in Training (Red Flag) Mission, Air Patrol (Armed and Unarmed), Acrobatic Demonstration Aircraft, Aircraft Carrier Compatible Aircraft.

As SavunmaSanayiST.com, we were given a special insight to the production line of HÜRJET.

For the first time, HÜRJET prototypes, which are in production and assembly activities in TUSAŞ facilities, were recorded by SavunmaSanayiST.com. Our HÜRJET Video will be posted on our YouTube channel today at 20:00 (GMT 17:00)

Advanced Jet Trainer and Light Attack Aircraft HÜRJET is a single engine, tandem-seat with modern avionics and high-performance features, fulfills a critical role in modern pilot training through its superior performance characteristics.

Combat variant provides a battlefield force multiplier through a wide range of mission capabilities and an extensive payload. HÜRJET Project has started to fulfil international and Turkish Air Force requirements by replacing aging T-38s as Advanced Jet Trainers (AJT) and F-5s as Acrobatic Team Aircrafts with a modern high performance multirole aircraft.

HÜRJET

In addition to these, HÜRJET’s capabilities also extent to:
• Replacing aging jet trainers, majority of which are 20 or more years old.
• Being used as Advanced Jet Trainers due to the increasing number of 5th generation aircrafts (TFX, F-35, etc.) and their changing configurations

Considering the multirole aircraft market, Turkish Aerospace has started HÜRJET Program with the intention of targeting the potential in the market by benefiting from its experience and skills on cost effective design/production of trainer/light aircraft/system.
