Roketsan plans to carry out the first launch of the Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker-Headed ATMACA Missile this year. IIR ATMACA will be used as a coastal defense system.
Participating in the 2nd Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), Roketsan General Manager Murat Ikinci answered the questions of SavunmaSanayiST.com. Ikinci announced that the first firing of the ATMACA Missile equipped with the IIR Seeker Head will be carried out within this year.
“As Roketsan, we are working on the Coastal Defense System. In addition to the land-based ATMACA, we will soon implement our Coastal Defense System, which we developed over the ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile. In this direction, we will carry out the warheaded launch of our ATMACA Missile with Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker, which we will use in our Coastal Defense System this year,” Roketsan’s GM said.
According to the information obtained by SavunmaSanayiST.com, within the scope of the test, the IIR Guided ATMACA Missile equipped with the KTJ-3200 Turbojet Engine developed by Kale Arge with national capabilities will be utilized. Roketsan aims that the IIR Guided ATMACA, which also has anti-Jamming elements, will be launched from the land vehicle and hit a fixed target in the sea.
ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile
The ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile currently used in the MILGEM TCG KINALIADA (F-514) Corvette has been using a Radar (RF) Seeker.
ATMACA Missile has a maximum range of 220+ kilometers, super sea-skimming capability with a low radar trace, high hit sensitivity and data link, target update, re-attack and mission cancellation capabilities.
The ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile, which weighs approximately 750 kilograms, can travel at high-subsonic speeds and can cause great destruction with its 220 kilogram warhead.
Submarine, surface-to-surface cruise missile and coastal defense missile configurations are currently under development. Thanks to the IIR Seeker, the ATMACA Missile will have higher target accuracy.
