55 HÜRKUŞ-2 aircraft to TurAF

Turkish Aerospace Industries aims to deliver a total of 55 HÜRKUŞ-2 aircraft to the Turkish Air Force (TurAF). Development activities for the HÜRKUŞ-2 are ongoing.

Turkish Aerospace continues to work on the new version of the HÜRKUŞ, which is designed to be used at all stages between basic flight training and fighter pilot combat readiness flight training and to fulfill close air support missions.

Within the scope of the project, which includes significant improvement activities, the production of HÜRKUŞ-2 continues. The aircraft is expected to make its first flight in June.

HÜRKUŞ Project, work initially concentrated on the training aircraft variant, while light attack and armed reconnaissance variant activities were added at a later stage. Various ammunition and equipment were integrated into the armed variant, which was named HÜRKUŞ-C, and successful flight/flight tests were conducted. The HÜRKUŞ-C, which attracted international attention, achieved export success in African countries.

In the process of meeting foreign demand for the HÜRKUŞ-C, 15 aircraft produced for the Turkish Air Force were exported to African countries in urgent need.

Turkish Aerospace Industries will add a total of 55 (15+40) more advanced HÜRKUŞ-2s to the inventory of the Turkish Air Force’s 122nd Basic Jet Flight Training Squadron.

Considering the current and long-term domestic and international requirements, the armed HÜRKUŞ is expected to reach very high sales figures.
